HOW TO ENHANCE AND DEFINE VERY CURLY HAIR IN 3 EASY STEPS.
Curls are beautiful, highly in fashion and most often have a life of their own. I find that rather than trying to change or tame your curls, you should go with it, but that doesn’t mean not having to do any work, curls need lots of love and attention, sometimes they even need help from the Charleston Hair Salons.
Curls usually look their best if you let them dry naturally or using a diffuser on your hair dryer and keep the heat and wind on low. This way the curls find their natural shape without getting super frizzy and blown out of form. Also DO NOT brush curls after your hair is dry, -unless your going for a 70’s-80’s look (which can be cool too, but now I’m talking about curls not frizz).. Use a moisturizing curl cream like this one from Bumble and bumble, you can use it in wet and dry hair, it helps to define and hydrate.
Also I LOVE finally using a curling tong/ rod to make the curls extra defined and even, sometimes I also like to add some Shea Butter Coconut Hair Cream. I simply pick out each curl that need a little extra, and twirl it around the rod, some curls only need extra defining in the ends, some places the curls might be saggy and straight and then I’ll curl the whole piece. The tong I always reach for when working with very curly hair, including a curly afro is ‘HH Simonsen Rod VS1 Spiral Curls’. It’s very small and depending on how tight I want the curl I use the end, the bottom or the whole rod.
