SPRING CLEAN (AND DECLUTTER) YOUR MAKEUP BAG WITH THESE 7 STEPS.
Hola! Here in Denmark it really seems like spring has sprung, -finally! This is a great time to go through your makeup and give it a good spring clean. I’m here to help you with a few easy tips to just zen out your makeup bag.
-If you haven’t used a (makeup) product for a while, chances are you won’t be using it again before it goes off (it’s expiration date). Get rid of it.
-If it smells harsh in any way, it probably is. Get rid of it.
-If it’s broken and looks unattractive, get rid of it, you deserve better.
-The number and little bottle or cream sign on the back of products, indicates how many months (after opening) you can expect the product to be fresh and usable. Take a look and recall when you used it the first time.
-Powder products don’t grow bacteria in the same way as creme products, so keep an extra eye on your lipsticks, concealer, foundation etc. Powder products however don’t last forever, pigment fade and texture can change and bacteria can grow (a little).
-Clean your makeup bag and brushes on a regular basis to wash out old makeup and bacteria.
-Throw away old, half used, thick nail polishes and all other cluttering makeup.
-A lot of beauty counters have a recycling policy, like Mac for instance, take your old makeup ( or used pots) to the counter and get new for less. And help our environment at the same time!
Finally, if your have good usable makeup you just don’t need in your life, don’t throw it, because places like ‘Reden’ (a refuge for prostitutes and drug addicts in Copenhagen) are more than happy to take it.
Enjoy doing this, it feels good and your skin/face will thank you.
