Josephine Skriver enjoying the sun in this story for Cover magazine shot by Rasmus skousen, hair and makeup by me.

Hi darlings, here’s some very useful and easy to understand info about sun protection.

SPF is a mix of (ingredients) that helps prevent the suns ultraviolet (UV) radiation from reaching the skin, the two types that damages the skin are called UVA and UVB -they age the skin prematurely,- we’re talking wrinkling, sagging and leathering our skin,-YIKES! -And more importantly increases the risk of skin cancer. Sunscreens vary in their ability to protect against these radiations here’s a little explanation:

SPF 15:  filters out approximately 93 percent of all incoming UVB rays.

SPF 30: keeps out 97 percent.

SPF 50: keeps out 98 percent.

This may seem like unnoticeable differences, but if you are light-sensitive, or have a history of skin cancer in the family, those extra percentages will make a difference. And as you can see NO sunscreen can block out all UV rays. It’s a very good idea to make at a rule to use sun screen everyday even if working or staying inside you are still exposed to the sun briefly during the day and the rays can filter through windows. You should also use sunscreen on cloudy days because up to 40%!! -Of the UVB and UVA radiations reaches us on a completely cloudy day! So never slag on the sun protection honeys and enjoy the SUMMER which should be just around the corner!
